  • It Was Cold on Dog Mountain

I died from frostbite somewhere near the summit. The locals named me medium-big foot and used me as a landmark… Eventually one of them checked my backpack and found this roll of film.

  • Storm Rolling In | Red Rock Canyon

Sometimes the clouds do things. Taken at Red Rock Canyon, which is basically the only good thing to do near Vegas. Most of these are straight out of the camera using Fuji’s film simulations and some weak grain because grain. The black and white photos are all using the Acros + red filter simulation. The color photos are PRO Neg. Hi or Provia (there’s exactly one Velvia shot thrown in for good measure; see if you can tell which one.) Enjoy!

  • Autumn is Still Here | Japanese Garden

The latest storm ripped many of the leaves down… luckily there were a few left at the Japanese Garden.

  • Horsetail Falls Trail

It was overcast, and not the pretty kind of overcast where there’s some texture in the clouds. The sky was just a white blur. I do prefer this to clear sky and what crazy people call, “such a beautiful day,” because at least there’s a natural scrim across that giant burning ball of fire in the sky… so the colors look a lot better. Anyway, the sky was a bit overblown in some of these images. In regard to the images, I shot most of these with the “color chrome” effect on. I’ve decided it’s a bit much but I do want to note that the colors of the raw files are even wild… it was a wild color kinda day. All images are right out of the camera… there was no added saturation, but I did crop a couple. I was using the 28mm conversion lens for most of these, it’ll show up in the EXIF data as a 19mm lens because the Fuji X100V has an APS-C sensor… so 28 is the 35mm film equivalent focal length. I had a terrible time with autofocus, so I’m still learning the camera. It’s like the camera had no idea what …

  • Waterfalls Near the Yellow Mountains | Phonetography

Just outside of the Yellow Mountains (Huangshan, China) we found Jiulong Waterfall, or Nine Dragons Waterfall. It only takes about an hour and the elevation is low enough that this hike will work even on a rainy day. If it’s raining heavily a trip up to the tops of the Yellow Mountains is somewhat pointless because you will simply be in the middle of the clouds with zero visibility. You have to go the day after the rain to see the famous sea of clouds. So, when it’s raining or threatening to rain, this is a good place to hike. The water is incredibly clear, as you can see from the pictures. The variety of minerals and rocks make for some awesome photos. This area is mostly granite but I believe we saw some coal as well. These photos were all taken with my OnePlus 5 camera. I did lug my big camera on this trip as well, you can see those pictures in my massive photo set here:
